Stress and back pain

As we deal with life and all the curve-balls it throws our way we all encounter stress. Stress can be caused by many factors such as  family obligations, work related and worrying/anxious thoughts. What tends to happen is we become overwhelmed and begin to feel run down. Stressful thoughts may lead one to begin to feel tense in the muscles of the back. As we continually "carry" this stress the muscle of the back may begin to tighten and cause a sore feeling, this can be exceptionally exacerbated if there is already a condition involving the back such as degenerative joint disease. It is important to manage your stress in a constructive way to avoid all the negative effects that stress can cause on your overall heath and well being. Chiropractic works exceptionally well in treating musculoskeletal disorders, which in this scenario would be muscle tightness. Chiropractic care also helps people achieve improved health and wellness. Some of the techniques we utilize in office to treat tight muscles is myofascial release and chiropractic adjustments. The best way to deal with stress is like I stated earlier is to manage it as best you can. There are several modifications one could make to their daily routine that would greatly improve how much stress we have in our lives.

During my initial exam I always cover things that may cause stress is someones life. Depending on the severity or multiple sources of stress, I always recommend a constructive way for my patients to recognize what is causing them stress and a best approach to deal with it.
